7 Powerful Prayers Every Spouse Should Pray Daily to Strengthen Your Marriage

Posted on July 14, 2026

Did you know marriage is one of God’s greatest gifts, but it is also one of our greatest responsibilities? A strong marriage doesn’t just happen, it is built intentionally, nurtured daily, and most importantly, covered in prayer.

One of the most powerful ways you can love your spouse is not just through your words or actions, but through your prayers. When you pray for your spouse, you are inviting God into the very heart of your marriage. You are trusting Him to do what you cannot do in your own strength. Prayer shifts things, it softens hearts, brings peace and strengthens what feels weak and restores what feels broken.

Here are seven powerful prayers every spouse should pray daily.

1. Pray for Your Spouse’s Relationship with God.

Before anything else, pray that your spouse seeks God above all.

Matthew 6:33 (NASB) says, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.”

When your spouse is growing in their relationship with the Lord, everything else in their life begins to align. Their decisions, their attitudes, and even the way they love you will reflect God’s presence.

Prayer: “Lord, draw my spouse closer to You. Stir a hunger in their heart for Your Word and Your presence. Let their relationship with You be the foundation of everything they do, Amen.”

2. Pray for Peace in Their Mind and Heart

Life can be overwhelming, and your spouse may carry burdens you don’t always see.

Isaiah 26:3 (NASB) says, “The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You.” God offers a peace that the world cannot give. Cover your spouse’s mind daily.

Prayer: “Father, guard my spouse’s mind and heart. Replace anxiety with Your peace. Help them to trust You fully, no matter what they are facing, Amen.”

3. Pray for Strength in Their Calling

Your spouse has a purpose, and sometimes the weight of that calling can feel heavy.

Philippians 4:13 (NASB) says, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” Pray that they don’t grow weary but remain strong in what God has called them to do.

Prayer: “Lord, strengthen my spouse today. When they feel weak, remind them that their strength comes from You. Help them to walk boldly in their calling, Amen.”

4. Pray for Wisdom in Every Decision

Every day brings decisions, some small, some life-changing, and we need to make sure we seek God’s wisdom first.

James 1:5 (NASB) says, “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” God promises to give wisdom to those who ask.

Prayer: “God, give my spouse wisdom in every decision they make today. Guide their steps and help them to discern what is right in Your sight, Amen.”

5. Pray for Their Health and Well-Being

Your spouse’s physical and emotional health matters to God.

3 John 1:2 (NASB) says, “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.” Pray for strength, healing, and overall well-being.

Prayer: “Lord, I pray for my spouse’s health. Strengthen their body, refresh their mind, and restore their energy. Let them walk in wholeness, Amen.”

6. Pray for Integrity and Faithfulness

Character matters. Integrity matters. Faithfulness matters.

Proverbs 10:9 (NASB) says, “One who walks in integrity walks securely, But one who perverts his ways will be found out.” Pray that your spouse remains grounded in truth and righteousness.

Prayer: “Father, help my spouse to walk in integrity. Guard their heart from temptation and lead them in truth. Let their life honor You in all things, Amen.”

7. Pray for Unity in Your Marriage

Marriage is not meant to be divided; it is meant to be united.

Mark 10:9 (NASB) says, “What therefore God has joined together, no person is to separate.” The enemy often tries to create division, but prayer strengthens unity.

Prayer: “Lord, protect our marriage. Help us to grow in love, patience, and understanding. Keep us united in You, no matter what we face, Amen.”

In closing, praying for your spouse daily is not about perfection, it’s about consistency. Some days your prayers may be short, other days they may be longer and filled with tears. Never underestimate what God is doing behind the scenes. As you continue to lift your spouse up in prayer, you are planting seeds. And in time, those seeds will produce a harvest of love, unity, strength, and faith in your marriage. Remember to keep praying, keep trusting and keep placing your marriage in God’s hands. Isiah 55:11 tells us, God’s Word will not return empty but will accomplish its purpose. Therefore, when we pray God’s promises over our marriage, we are aligning our requests with His will and claiming the power of His Word.

If this blessed you today, don’t let it stop here. God is calling us to be intentional in our marriages, by praying and meditating on His Word daily. And you don’t have to walk that journey alone, continue growing in your marriage and your faith.
